How To Get Out Of A Work Funk
I hate it when people complain about their jobs. My feeling is, if you hate it that much, quit. However, I do get that people can feel blue from time to time. Maybe you're not advancing fast enough, maybe you're not given enough projects, or maybe your raise wasn't as high as you expected. You don't want to quit over that stuff, but you've all of a sudden forgotten why you actually like your job in the first place.
This is what I would do, if I were in a funk.
1)List all the things about your job that you love
For me, I love that I have my own office. I love that our company culture supports working parents. Most of the exec team have missed one day or another to watch their kid in a hockey game, or play. I love the employee stock option program. I put in $100 of my pay cheque towards company stock, and the company matches it 100%. I love my health, and dental plan. I love that I have established meaningful friendships that will last me my whole life.
4)Dress Better
A wise friend once told me, that you need to dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Maybe jeans, and runners are perfectly acceptable at your office. But do you want to be a jeans, and runners CEO? I don't. Though, one time I did see a highly esteemed CEO of a local apparel company, visiting our office in a track suit, and flip flops. I always feel like a million bucks when I look better than the other guy standing beside me.
5)List Everything Wonderful In Your Life
I have a great husband. He annoys me from time to time, but I adore him anyway. And he's good to me. I have a healthy, smart, loving child. Recently, Elle has gotten into the habit of throwing her arms around my face, and whispering, "I love you mum". How cool is that? It makes me so happy to hear those words, coming out of that mouth. I have a fantastic group of girlfriends. Thank you Sex and the City, for inspiring women everywhere to spend time with their girlfriends. If I learned anything from Carrie, and the girls, it's that you need girlfriends in every phase of your life, so cherish them, love them, and treat them well.
I'm outta my funk now. How about you?

2)Google Jobs in Your Industry
Put your mind at ease, and check out what you think you might be missing. Most times there isn't much. While you're at it, you might as well update your resume too. Looking at other job descriptions is a great way to inventory all the skills, and attributes you've acquired since being at your job.3)Be Thankful You Have A Job
A bright, hardworking girlfriend of mine was let go of her company, because of mass layoffs. The president, and district managers wrote her glowing references. She would have preferred to have just kept her job.4)Dress Better
